Change for Women

Globally, 1 in 10 people are living in extreme poverty, on less than $1.90 a day.

These people are facing a severe lack of basic human needs, including food, safe drinking water, sanitation facilities, health, shelter and education.

Poverty is wildly unjust, and it takes all of us to solve such a complex problem.

We’re committing 100% of our profits to programs that fight global poverty, in real and life-changing ways.

Opportunities for women, change for communities

We believe one of the keys to fighting poverty is through the economic empowerment of women.

Women make up more than half the world’s population, however they are disproportionately affected by poverty. They have fewer resources, less access to information and face harmful social norms that limit their roles in society.

When women have equal access to meaningful work which is fairly paid and recognised alongside their other unpaid work, in addition to having equitable household decision making rights, it has a ripple effect that yields multiple substantial benefits.

Women invest 90% of their income back into their families and it has been proven time and time again that empowering women and girls has a multiplier effect, benefiting not only the individual women, but also their families, whole communities, and countries.

100% of profits go to powering World Vision Australia Livelihood projects that have strong links to empowering women to build better sources of income, so they can be self-sustaining and build better lives for their children and families. These projects have been refined over many years with a focus on children and women with the aim to lift themselves out of poverty.

Through programs and skills training, El Sas (above) was provided opportunities to learn about farming and how to run her own farm. El Sas now employs many locals and has trained 10 other families in how to run farms too.
